Fashion is an ever-changing world that comes and goes with the seasons, literally. Fashion trends often times don’t last longer than a season because the weather usually dictates what clothes we wear. Therefore as the weather changes so do the clothes that we wear and when the season comes back around the next year we have already forgotten last years fashion trend and moved on to the next trend. However, there are always trends that find a way to stick around long enough to become a regular fashion statement. Generally fashion trends tend to stay around longer when they rank high in comfort ability (ie. you don’t have to visit the doctor with severe lacerations on your ankles and crunched toes every time you wear your shoes to the club), versatility (ie. can be worn dressed up or casually), and can be worn by all body types and sizes. So what fashion trends that are popular now and will most likely be a safe wardrobe choice for a long time?

Skinny Leg Jeans: You can find skinny leg jeans in almost any color, they are relatively inexpensive, they are comfortable, they’re sexy (in most cases), and you can wear them even if you don’t have a skinny leg!

Lace Tank Tops: A perfect example of taking a casual article of clothing from cool to hot. Lace tank tops, much like their predecessor, are comfortable to wear, easy to match, and can be worn to fit most casual occasions. With the addition of a lace design, tank tops go from being cool to being sexy cool.

Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star: Unarguably Michael Jordan is one of the most influential sports figures in the world and as a result Jordan through his self-named shoe brand has been able to sell shoes at a pace matched by no other athlete. I mean, when you can dunk from the free throw line and appear to defy the laws of gravity, it has to be the shoes. However, you don’t have to be half man half eagle to sale shoes, more importantly you have to be a good shoe salesman, ask “Chuck” Taylor. The Chuck Taylor All-Star basketball shoe has been around since 1910 and has sold over 600 million units making it the top-selling shoe in history. I am personally a fan of the Chuck Taylor shoe because my pants fall nicely over the shoe without bunching up at the bottom. Therefore, I think its safe to say the Chuck Taylor All-Star shoe will be around for many more years to come.

Leggings: So it’s 45 degrees outside and you really want to wear your red mini skirt that you were only able to wear once during the summer. You paid good money for this skirt and you don’t want it to just sit in the closet so you put on your favorite pair of leggings to keep your legs warm with the red mini skirt. What a stylish solution to such a common problem? In addition, you can find leggings that look like jeans, have animal prints, and in one solid color. This makes it easy to find the right pair of leggings to match your outfit. Did I include they were sexy and comfortable to wear already?

Maxi Dresses: The long free-flowing hem of a maxi dress falls graciously over the curves of a woman’s body accenting their natural figure while concealing any minor problem areas. Maxi dresses are great for women of all body types and sizes. They are classy, sexy, and elegantly simple solutions to any occasion from nights out on the town to the kids basketball game.

So this is my top 5 list of fashion trends that are here to stay, however, I’m sure that I could have made this list longer. Help me expand this list and comment with your favorite fashion trend you believe is here to stay.

Is it me or does Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga share a lot in common? Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga are about as uncommon and as far from ordinary as two people can get but when compared to each other they share a lot of similarities.

1. Let’s begin with the eccentric styles of Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga. Nicki Minaj’s VMA (2011) dress (or whatever you would call that, I’m not sure if this article of clothing would fit under the classification of being a dress) was taken right from a page in Lady Gaga’s book. Lady Gaga is well-known for her eccentric style and because of it she has gained a huge following on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. It appears Nicki Minaj has been taking notes and is using her eccentric style to draw attention to herself as well. However, it’s not who wears it first, it’s who wears the look best.

2. Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj have both had celebrities profess their feelings for them publicly. Drake during his song “All Night Long” says” …I love Nicki Minaj I told her I admit it I hope one day we get married just to say we fuckin did it…” and Jose Conseco over twitter professed his love for Lady Gaga by saying that “I love Lady Gaga wish I could meet her. would marry her in a second”. Which crush would you prefer?

3. Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj wear similar hair styles with Lady Gaga going with the blond and Nicki Minaj going with the natural black.

4. They both are social media queens. Nicki Minaj has over 5 million twitter followers and close to 14 million Facebook fans, while Lady Gaga has a record setting 13 million twitter followers and over 43 million Facebook fans.

5. Lastly they both make great music. Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday debuted at number 2 on the billboard top 200 in 2010 and went on to reach platinum status selling over 1.5 million copies. Lady Gaga’s Born This Way sold over 1.1 million copies in its first week and has sold over 5 million copies worldwide.

Lastly both of these women are very talented artists and we love them for their eccentric style and musical talents. However, lets all pray that their fashion statements don’t become mainstream. This would set off a record pace for school uniform policies being adopted and as a fan of fashion and being able to express yourself through fashion you can imagine that I am not a fan of school uniform policies. I am a fan of Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga but there has to be a winner so comment and let me know who is your favorite crazy dressing music artist?

The hourglass body type is a combination of the pear body shape and the apple body shape. This combination of full hips and bust gives the hourglass body type the appearance of a small waist line and a curvy figure. This curvy appearance makes the hourglass body type a desired body type for many women and is the best attribute of a full-figured woman. Marilyn Monroe and Kim Kardashian are two of the most famous celebrities with an hourglass body type and it’s safe to say that both of these women have represented full-figured women well. However, even a woman with a voluptuous and curvy figure needs to know how to dress to accentuate their curvy figure and small waist line.

Women’s Blouses and Tops :

V-neck and scoop neck blouses and tops are a must have for women with a full bust because the low neckline of these blouses and tops works to minimize appearance of having a large chest. Button down blouses have a natural v-neck line that can be adjusted by undoing a few buttons. These types of blouses and tops are a great choice for women with a full bust line. In addition the small waist of an hourglass body type should be accented and shown off, so blouses and tops that are form-fitting are recommended. If wearing a loose-fitting blouse then use a belt around the natural waist to help show off your curvy figure.

Women’s Bottoms:

Low waist pants and bottoms are a must for women with full hips and backside. The biggest problem for women with more full hips and backside is finding pants that fit them around the hips but are not too large around the waist. Well, it’s not a problem if you like for your pants to fall down when you walk, it doesn’t seem to be a problem for most of our male youth these days so maybe you can make it a new female trend (I doubt it). Anyway, you can avoid this problem by purchasing low-rise pants which will also allow you to show off your small waist. When choosing dresses to wear, choose dresses that are form-fitting and follow the natural contour of your body. Dresses with belts at the natural waist and pencil skirts are also a must have. It’s recommended to stay away from mini skirts because the fill hips and backside of an hourglass figure will cause the skirt to rise up in the back leaving all of your “goodies” exposed for all the boys in the yard to see.
